For a small sized entertainment venue I was impressed with the seating view and sound system. Had a great time taking in Boz Scaggs and his band.
My only criticism was that the seats were narrow and leg room tight. I was really into the show so it was no big deal. Definitely would not keep me from returning. Read more. Lsh Harrisburg, PA contributions. This review is for the venue and not the show. The show was excellent One Night of Queen. I like the theater for its size, quaint. The seats are comfortable with cup holders.
Now for the bad. The walls of the theater are extremely filthy with layers of dust. This was noticed when sound and light staff were shining bright lights on the walls. The walls are just plain dirty as well. The far side seats of orchestra left have a terrible obstructed view of the stage.
The security are tight-assed and really let the power go to their head. The location of this venue is in an obviously affluent neighborhood and you would think volunteers would step up and clean and paint the theater. Ridgefield playhouse hosted Peter Wolf! My rock and roll buddy and I visited the beautiful Ridgefield to meet and hear Peter Wolf perform.
If you don't recognize the name, Peter started his career as the lead singer of the wonderful funky rock blues band, The j. Geils Band. The playhouse hosted the meet and greet and his show in their theater which is a part of a Ridgefield School. When we got there at to meet Peter the staff at the Box office took care of us and answered all questions. Everything is five star at the venue. It's a small, old theater with one balcony that looks like it holds less than five hundred people so the acoustics are excellent.
One bathroom n the lobby with snacks, coffee and the typical nine dollar beer and 11 dollar hard offerings. The people are nice there, laid back and helpful. The show Peter put on was smoking and longer and better than the last time I saw him.
The only reason I gave it four stars was the seats are ancient and are built for someone who is under pounds and under 5'5"". My buddy is 6'2" and I am 6' so we couldn't wait to stand up and dance. Thankfully it was a rockin' show. Easy to get in and out with free parking and about 15 minutes to the Wilbur Cross. I would go back if I can get an aisle seat. There are all sorts of restaurants a few minutes away in downtown Ridgefield.
Live music; movies; plays; fabulous venue for many types of entertainment for all ages. During baseball season spring, summer and fall , park closer to either the skate park or the far other side of the parking lot closer to the police department to avoid errant foul baseballs. Ken O Cheshire 20 contributions. Saw Arlo Guthrie here last night.
Really good show. Sat in the front row of the mezzanine with a nice view; great sound. But the narrowest seats I've ever experienced! Definitely NOT Broadway-size as others have suggested.. The seats maybe were sized for the HS kids? Don't know, but someone decided to cut corners on the seating.
Too bad too, as an otherwise very nice, intimate venue. I think bad choice to fit a few extra seats in. We watched people down below in the orchestra "popping" themselves into their seats. Not saying you need a shoehorn, but it's unfortunate all the same.
Great views from everywhere that I have sat. Freckl2 Ridgefield, CT 35 contributions. Top name performers and shows but expensive. Great older, beautiful theater with some great entertainment. Not cheap though. Serves drinks and snacks. All seats are good viewing.
Rick 4 contributions. Another fine night of music at RP. Preservation Hall was magnificent as always. And the Playhouse is just the best way to see a show. Small, intimate, great sound and views. Somehow the performers work as hard as if they were at MSG. Cant wait to go again. My husband and I went to Ridgefield Playhouse last night to see the. Renaissance concert, which was absolutely amazing.
It was the 50th anniversary tour and we were lucky enough to be in the second row. What a marvelous show! Unfortunately, there was a downside! Getting to the theater is very challenging. We got off the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut and followed winding roads.
