Check the fish barrels all around the dock of riften. They respawn every few days and it beats trying to catch fish swimming around in the water. Jedi Scholar posted LOL guilty! I guess what was nice about the fortify restoration loop, for me, is 2 things. I made a ridiculously high damage bow, so i can sniper enemies at times. Then they usually charge in, or i alert them because I'm just too loud and then its back to good ole daedric mace. But i love the one shot sniper capabilities of my bow. And the 2nd was that it leveled Alchemy to in like 10 minutes. User Info: unjustchimp. I also found a bunch just by following the river all the way from Ilinata's deep to Windhelm.
It also kind of cuts into the monotony because it feels like you are adventuring. Plus, you get to shoot the rapids which is kind of fun. Just watch out for really big waterfalls as you may die from the fall.
